I had my operation in March 7th at St Michaels Hospital, I was seen by anaesthetist and Mr Norton on the ward prior to that. The epidural and sedation were given and I remember nothing until I woke up in recovery, I felt really good in fact had to ask if I had actually had it done

Mr Norton has a very easy manner giving a relaxed atmosphere for the discussion in explaining the way forward for a matter needing major surgery. This was greatly appreciated.

The surgery & care I received from Mr. Norton was excellent. My op for a full hip replacement wasn't the easiest procedure for him because I have a pre existing scoliosis. It made things more challenging. Mr Norton took the time to make sure my op had the best chance of success by looking at every detail & measurement pre op. His team at St. Michael's hospital reflect his professionalism & from the moment I met him (initially on zoom!) I felt I could trust him fully. I have had quite a lot of NHS input over my life & rarely do you come across someone as able as Mr. Norton. I'm so glad he was my surgeon.

I saw Mr Norton 11 years ago at Duchy Hospital to get results of a scan, I was concerned as a shadow had been seen in my pelvic bone, but Mr Norton put me at my ease straight away and informed me that this was a collection of red cells and was nothing to worry about, he also informed me of the degenerative condition of lower vertebrae and osteoarthritis in hips, he was very pleasant and answered my questions, he also told me I would need a hip replacement in about 5 years in the left as it was worse than the right. In December 2022 I was informed that a recent hip X-ray showed that my left hip had deteriorated and was now severe and the doctor would be in touch in the new year. When she telephoned, surgery was disgust and my name being added to the waiting list, I requested to be added to Mr Nortons list as had seen him before and feel that I would like him to perform the operation, the Doctor said she would carry out my request, however this did not happen as in February I was informed that I was on another surgeons list. However I made enquiries and several telephone calls and finally spoke to someone in the booking office at St Michaels Hospital, I explained the above and she said it would be no problem to switch me over onto Mr Nortons list, I was extremely grateful and could now relax. On 12th December 2022 I attended my appointment at St Michaels Hospital to see Mr Norton, a very pleasant nurse escorted me to his office, he arranged for an X-ray after which I returned and he pointed out that my hip had collapsed down as on the X-ray and he would be placing me on his urgent list for surgery which should be around 3- 4 months time. I was relieved that it wouldn’t be much longer to wait now thanked Mr Norton saying that I was very grateful. The Nurse then took an MRSA swab before I left. I would just like to say that the whole experience that morning was very positive, everything went smoothly, the staff were really lovely and I left feeling excited that it all went so well and I would soon be back to walking my dog on the beach.
